Company Profile
The RON, Regional Development Company Amsterdam Area, was
established in 1999. Shareholders are: the Province of North-Holland,
the municipalities of Amsterdam, Beverwijk, Velsen/IJmuiden,
Zaanstad, the harbour authorities of IJmuiden and Corus, ABN-AMRO
bank and the industry companies association ORAM.
The core business of the RON is the initiating of new and
redevelopment of existing industrial areas and coordinating
these activities between the parties involved in the economic
development of the entire North Sea Canal Area.
Furthermore the RON gets involved in projects which contribute
to the general stimulation of a sustained economic and environmentally
sound development process for long term prosperity in the
region.
The RON is the natural chain between the private and public
sector with respect to selection of sites and locations for
new and relocating companies and a source for guidance of
those companies with respect to permits and governmental approval
procedures.
Specifically for the IJmuiden harbour area, the RON is in
charge of developing an industrial site and the coordination
of activities aimed at establishing a ferry connection between
IJmuiden and Great Yarmouth in the UK.
