AYOP for professional services to the oil and gas,
offshore wind, and port related industries

Profile
Amsterdam Ymuiden Offshore Port related industries was founded in the late 1970s by the Amsterdam Port Management and the Amsterdam Ports Association. Subsequently, a large number of other companies and organizations from the North Sea Canal region between Amsterdam and Ymuiden joined our newly-formed association.
AYOP currently has some twenty six members. In The Netherlands and abroad we aim to promote the products, services and facilities our members offer. In addition, we draw the attention to the many possibilities for interested industries to establish themselves in the Amsterdam-Ymuiden region.
Over the years, AYOP has developed into a unique organization, because our membership list now not only includes many oil and gas, offshore wind, and port related industries, but a number of government institutions as well. This means that the communication lines between the business community and government authorities are very short, and that these parties can in unison respond swiftly and effectively to new developments. In addition to this advantage, AYOP members also dispose of an ocean of maritime, and oil and gas, and offshore wind related know-how on which their wide range of special port and other maritime services are based. Their excellent capabilities and facilities have turned the Amsterdam-Ymuiden region into the bustling nerve centre for oil and gas, offshore wind, and port related industries in The Netherlands.

Nerve centre
The Amsterdam-Ymuiden region is one of Europe's most significant shipping port areas. It is an ideal region for high-class domestic and foreign companies to set up shop. For these, there already are many ancillary industries here. Attractive establishment conditions, ideal locations and excellent accessibility are the fortes of this region. It has been a prominent international trade and industry hub for many centuries now.
Major advantages of the ports in the Amsterdam-Ymuiden region are their ideal location in relation to the primary West European shipping routes, and their excellent motorway, railway and waterway connections with a vast hinterland. Moreover, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is only a fifteen-minute drive away, enabling fast air transport of cargo, emergency supplies, executives and personnel.
Fully geared to the shipping trade, the region features numerous modern storage, transshipment, loading and offloading facilities as well as a number of fabrication, construction, repair and maintenance yards. There are also many facilities in this region for the processing or disposal of both solid and fluid ships' waste products, and for cleaning tanks. In short, this shipping port region has everything necessary to serve the maritime sector swiftly, competently, effectively and efficiently.

Service centre
The Amsterdam-Ymuiden region is ideally situated in relation to the many oil and gas fields in the southern sector of the North Sea. This is why the majority of the oil companies operating on the Dutch continental shelf have set up a supply base in this very area. Located in this area are also over a hundred companies providing products and services to the oil and gas industry. The most significant of these ancillary industries have become an AYOP member, giving our association a leading role here in the serving of the offshore trade. A distinct advantage of said ancillary industries is that they dispose of ample pertinent know-how, experience and facilities. Also, virtually everything needed for onshore and offshore mining is readily available right within the Amsterdam-Ymuiden region. Partly thanks to the AYOP efforts, this region has now become one of the most significant oil and gas service centres on the continent. Greatly conducive to this success is that our region still offers ample room and possibilities for new oil and gas related activities. The port of Ymuiden, for example, can accommodate even the largest rigs, and the nontidal port of Amsterdam offers significant advantages when it comes to loading materials. Furthermore, inspection, repair and maintenance work can be carried out on all kinds of offshore vessels, structures and equipment. Moreover, the nearby Amsterdam Schiphol Airport offers helicopter flight services and there are special roll-on/roll-off liner services in this area to UK and other European ports.
